Armenia holds the "Night of Museums"

For the fifth time already, Armenia holds the action called "Night of Museums" and dated to the International Museums Day. Today, from 6:00 p.m. till midnights the doors of 17 Yerevan and 6 regional museums located in Syunik, Shirak and Lori will be broadly opened for the public.

According to Gayane Dyrgaryan, head of PR division at the Ministry of Culture of Armenia, the museums have prepared interesting actions and exhibitions for the "Night of Museums", some of them to be held for the first time, as the "News-Armenia" Agency reports.

For holding the action, a cultural program of 48 events and exhibitions was prepared, as reported by the "PanARMENIAN" Agency. Thus, the National Picture Gallery of Armenia has opened, with assistance of the Embassy of China, an exhibition of national clothes of Chinese national minorities, the Museum of History of Armenia - an exhibition of new findings of the 10th-9th centuries B.C. from the necropolis of the Lori fortress.

For the first time, the international action "Night in Museum" was held in 1999, under the initiative of the Ministry of Culture of France, when the "open door" day for free-of-charge visiting of museums was announced. Since 2001, "Night of Museums" is held by 39 countries of the world.
