In Abkhazia, car with "Siemens" specialists blown up by trip wire mine

In the Gali District of Abkhazia, a car with "Siemens" specialists who work to recover the Inguri HPP, the biggest in Transcaucasia, got blown up by a trip wire explosive.

As reported by Laurens Kogoniya, chief of the Gali ROVD, the incident happened today at 5:45 p.m. Moscow time. "At exiting the tunnel leading to the machine hall of the Inguri HPP, the UAZ van carrying 12 'Siemens' engineers to settlement Chigal, where they live, drove across a trip wire RGD-5 grenade stretched right across the road," said Mr Kogoniya.

According to his story, as a result of the terror act people did not suffer, the car was slightly damaged. The ROVD chief believes that it was a provocation of Georgian special agents aimed at discrediting local power agencies and authorities.

Let us note here that the restoration project of the Inguri HPP is funded by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. Repair works are guided by the "Siemens" German company with involvement of local power specialists. The basic units of the plant are on the Abkhazian bank of Inguri River, while the dam - on the Georgian one.

This year, it is already the second incident with "Siemens" engineers. On February 20, employees of the company were plundered.
