Moscow states concentration of Georgian troops at the borders of South Ossetia and Abkhazia

Georgian troops and police units are concentrated near the borders of South Ossetia and Abkhazia; they set up field camps, observation posts and deploy heavy armaments, as stated today by a Kremlin source.

In his opinion, after withdrawal of Russian peacekeepers the situation in the areas adjacent to South Ossetia and Abkhazia remains unstable and explosive.

"In total, some 2500-strong Georgian military contingent is concentrated here. Over 50 stationary and mobile posts were deployed; active works are underway on engineering support. Armoured vehicles and artillery are brought there," said the Kremlin source.

Besides, he said that tomorrow, on April 30, President of Russia will sign agreements on border guarding with his counterparts from Abkhazia and South Ossetia. The "Interfax" writes that the signing ceremony of top-level bilateral agreements of Russia with Abkhazia and South Ossetia on joint border defence will take place in Moscow.
