Kogoniya: there was no shelling of Georgian Khurcha village from Abkhazia

Laurens Kogoniya, head of the Gali ROVD (district interior department) of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of Abkhazia, has assured the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that there was no shelling of the village of Khurcha from the territory of Nabakevi village, Gali District of Abkhazia.

The incident, in which, as reported, a Khurcha resident was wounded, was described today by Georgian media. It was asserted that the shell was fired by Russian militaries, and firearm shooting had lasted the whole preceding night.

"It has nothing to do with reality," said Mr Kogoniya. "There was no shooting at night or today in the Gali District, and as to Russian militaries, they are not deployed in Nabakevi at all. Only Abkhazian frontier guards and customs officers draw their duty there."

We remind you that on Sunday, March 29, it was reported that an explosion in Achigvara village, Ochamchira District of Abkhazia, two soldiers and a local resident were injured.

Laurens Kogoniya, head of the Gali ROVD, told journalists that the incident took place in a shop. According to the investigation, a radio-triggered bomb was planted under the shop roof and was blown up when soldiers entered the building.

Abkhazian law enforcers regard the incident as a terror act against Abkhazian servicemen.
