The elections of deputies of the Parliament of the Chechen Republic, held last Sunday, October 12, in the territory of Chechnya, with the voter turnover "traditional" for the Republic and exceeding 95 percent, have been recognized valid.

On October 15, a sitting of the Republic's Central Electoral Commission (CEC) was held in Grozny, where the final results of early parliamentary elections were summed up. The members of the CEC of Chechnya have recognized the elections as accomplished, and their outcomes as valid.

The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told at the CEC that "no complaints as to the course of voting or actions of Electoral Commissions in places have arrived from the observers, who represented political parties, or from the broad public."

According to the latest CEC data, the total voter turnout made 95.08 percent, that is, 562,647 voters have cast their ballots on October 12. The regional branch of the "Edinaya Rossiya" (United Russia) Party has won the absolute support of the overwhelming number of voters - 88.4 percent. The "Spravelivaya Rossiya" (Fair Russia) Party was runner-up with 9.2 percent of votes.

The outcomes announced by the CEC of Chechnya have caused sceptical response of independent observers.
