Earthquake in Chechnya caused more damage than announced earlier
As a result of the earthquake on October 11 in the territory of the Chechen Republic several thousands of buildings and private households suffered. The statistics of the damage caused by the calamity is updated as additional information arrives from the regions.
On October 13, Eli Isaev, Minister of Finance of Chechnya, gave updated information about the scale of the damage caused by the earthquake to the Republic. According to Mr Isaev, in different regions of the Republic, the earthquake had damaged over 4000 households, four thousand home ownerships, more than 80 schools, 17 administrative buildings, 27 bridges, at least 90 public health objects, 156 kilometres of highways, eight kilometres of gas-supplying lines and various life-support objects.
Meanwhile, the count of casualties has grown up. In the evening on October 12, a woman died in one of the hospitals from heavy traumas that she received in the earthquake. Thus, the earthquake death-roll in the territory of the Chechen Republic makes now 13 persons, six children among them.
26 persons out of 105 wounded by the earthquake are still in hospitals. Doctors treat the condition of seven of them as grave.
