Members of Kurmanch community protest against tortures in Krasnodar

Today, 10 Kurmanch nationals have held a picket in Krasnodar against tortures applied to Rashid Gurzhiev, Anatoly Dursunov and Ruslan Kelosmanov. The picketers grouped in the mini-park opposite the administration of the Krasnodar Territory and demanded that law-enforcement and judicial bodies treat the detainees objectively.

"Public prosecutors, judges and other power bodies would not react to violations of the rights of the members of our community," Hasan Gurji, head of the Kurmanch community told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent. "The reason is in our nationality and in general attitude of the Russian state to all its citizens."

Tatiana Rudakova, chairperson of Inter-Regional Public Organization "Mothers in Defence of the Rights of Detainees, Persons on Remand and Convicts", was a direct organizer of the picket. Today, the world marks the International Day in Support of Victims of Torture, therefore the organization has exposed photos of the people who were beaten and murdered by militiamen.

"Every fifth Russian was tortured by the militia. And only citizens themselves can resist to it," said Tatiana Rudakova.

According to Hasan Gurji, head of the Kurmanch community, Ruslan Kelosmanov was detained and beaten by law-enforcement bodies in the Kuban city of Belorechensk, then has confessed of committing a crime. Rashid Gurzhiev and Anatoly Dursunov were detained on May 16 at about 4:00 p.m. in Khadyzhensk.
