In Georgia, opposition failed to hamper the parliament

Today, the capital of Georgia hosted the first sitting of the parliament of the new convocation elected on May 21. The sitting was attended by President of Georgia Mikhail Saakashvili and Catholicos Patriarch of all Georgia Elias the Second.

The MPs have elected David Bakradze to be the Chairman of the Georgian Parliament of the new convocation. Out of 120 deputies present at that moment in the chamber 116 have voted four him, and four MPs have refrained.

The Parliament of Georgia of the new convocation has started its work at 10:00 a.m. All the deputies from the party in power named United National Movement were present and one deputy from the oppositional Labour Party - Ramaz Tedoradze who refused to share the position of the leadership of his party and preserved his mandate, the ITAR-TASS reports.

Today, the opposition wanted to block the work of the Parliament. They rejected the election outcomes, treated them as forged and decided to refuse from their mandates and made a decision to create the so-called "alternative parliament". Today, during a protest action held in front of the building of Parliament, the leaders of the opposition have destroyed their deputy mandates.
