In Krasnodar, beaten soldier has his spleen amputated

At the Krasnodar first aid hospital, soldier Alexander Ivanov from Volgograd who fell victim of beating at the military unit, was amputated his damaged spleen.

"We had to make an urgent surgery on Alexander Ivanov from Volgograd. The young man was brought at night. He explained that he had been beaten at his military unit several days before he was hospitalized," a source from the surgical ward of the hospital told today.

In his turn, Oleg Solinov, assistant to the military public prosecutor of the Krasnodar garrison, has stated that the prosecutor's office possesses data about beating the soldier in one of the army units. "The military investigatory department of the Krasnodar garrison has initiated a criminal case on the fact under Article 286 of the Criminal Code ("Excess of one's official powers"), since the suspect is a sergeant accused of beating his subordinate," the "Interfax" quotes Mr Solinov as saying.

At the same time, Svetlana Ivanova, mother of the suffered private, who has arrived from Volgograd to take care of her son, has informed that the beating, after which Alexander, 22, was taken to hospital, took place late in February. "The sergeant allegedly demanded money from Alexander - 100 roubles. The son refused to give it and was beaten," Ms Ivanova said.
