Residents of Makhachkala block Imam Shamil Avenue

In Makhachkala, the capital of Dagestan, today starting from 5 p.m., local residents have blocked traffic along the Imam Shamil Avenue in protest against electricity cut-offs. The road is still unblocked.

A local resident Malaali Kilbaliev has informed the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that the population remains without heat and electricity for the fifth day already.

"Militiamen from ROVD (District Militia) of the Sovietskiy District of Makhachkala are sympathetic with us, because their building was also disconnected from electricity supplies. There came the administration head of the Sovietskiy District, but people would not give in to his requests to unblock the Avenue. So far, there's no hope that bureaucrats will ever solve our problems," the resident said.

The "Caucasian Knot" has already reported that on January 21 Makhachkala residents blocked Magomed Yaragskiy Street. Then, the head of the operative headquarters of Makhachkala assured that he expected that supplies of heat and electricity to houses, schools and kindergartens of the capital of Dagestan would be restored within three days.
