Khidasheli: OSCE is rather critical in assessing the presidential election in Georgia

Tina Khidasheli, one of the leaders of the Republican Party of Georgia and representative of the United Opposition, believes that in reality the OSCE's estimates of the election was critical enough, but because of tendentious presenting the Georgian television this criticism was somehow lost.

"...Now, the European observers have learnt the lesson and compiled their report all over again from start to the end in such a way, as to exclude any chance for manipulations.

For example, their report states that in considering complaints on the election the Central Electoral Commission (CEC) had violated particular law provision. Also, they have noted that a certain number of tabulation protocols were redone. But OSCE cannot enforce an investigation into these facts. The OSCE doesn't give any political assessments. In their four reports on the presidential election in Georgia, the OSCE was critical and adequate. I think that the final report will be not in soft tones," the oppositionist has stated as quoted by the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

She said that all litigations on the election suits are over.

"There is still the Strasbourg Court, but since it takes a lot of time, it's inefficient in our case.

The court (the Georgian one, - the note of the 'Caucasian Knot') was surprisingly quick in considering all our complaints. I can give an example of one case, when its consideration was appointed in 20 minutes after it was filed, and the case was solved within 30 minutes and rejected. This case contained quite plenty of documents, and it's impossible to study them in such a short piece of time. The court session was just a formality. This is the 'pocket' judiciary that we have," Ms Khidasheli has added.

She has also noted that the opposition has no trust any more in the international community as it was before January 5. In Tina Khidasheli's opinion, the moods and attitude of the Georgian people have changed so much not to the West as a whole, but to one representative thereof - Matthew Bryza.
