Andrei Rudomakha: local ecologists not invited to roundtable in Sochi

The roundtable entitled "Environmental Problems in Construction of Olympic Objects in Sochi - Ways of Solution", to be held in the Red Valley (Krasnodar Territory), planned on January 23, will take place without local ecologists who were not invited. In the opinion of the latter, the real purpose of the event is not seeking ways of solution to the sharpest environmental problems, but creating another visibility of the "approval" of the course of preparation for the 2014 Olympiad.

"What is strange," says in this connection Andrei Rudomakha, head of the Ecological Watch for Northern Caucasus, "that the organizer of the roundtable is the 'Green Patrol' Association, which has never worked in our region. Not a single local public organization was invited to take part in the discussion."

According to his story, the "universal approval" was many times practised in the past. However, it never gave any positive results.

He has called on Sochi organizations and non-indifferent citizens to take active part in the event in order "to tell the full truth about the ecological and social disaster brought by holding the Olympic Games in Sochi."
