Residents of Makhachkala demand resignation of Dagestan and city leaders and prosecutors

The situation with electricity and heat supply continues to remain strained in Makhachkala. Many houses lack electricity and heat, and people demand resignation of the leaders of Dagestan, city authorities and law enforcement bodies.

Today in the morning, the situation with electricity supply to Makhachkala has failed to normalize. Thousands of residents remain without heat, electricity and water against the frost of minus 15 degrees Centigrade.

"We slept today at the temperature of 8 degrees," Vladimir, a resident of house No. 3 in Timiryazev Street in Makhachkala told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent. "For two day already, we have no electricity, heating and water. Children are sick, and we have nowhere to take them to warm them up. The house is inhabited by elderly and sick people and invalids, many of them are in grave condition."

Residents of Makhachkala express their claims towards journalists of federal TV Channels who work in Dagestan.

"In Yakutia heat supply was stopped for one day, and the whole country learnt about it immediately; we have this state of things from the beginning of winter," residents assert. "Why do employees of the federal channels - Channel 1, RTR, and NTV - fail to say a word in their broadcasts about the situation in Makhachkala and mass rallies? Because they were ordered to keep silent!"

The "Caucasian Knot" has already informed that yesterday, on January 11, meetings against electricity cut-offs were held in Makhachkala.

The largest picket took place in Kalinin Avenue - the major highway of Makhachkala. There, in the area of the "Uzbekgorodok" District, several hundreds of residents blocked the traffic demanding to feed electricity to their houses.
