Ecologists protest against "Moon Meadow" in Adygea

Today, ecologists of Northern Caucasus have held a picket near the building of the Government of Adygea, with their main slogan asking: "President of Russia - guarantor of Constitution or guarantor of lawlessness?" the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent informs.

"Several years ago, the 'Moon Meadow' mountain-skiing complex was built in the territory of the Caucasian Reserve," Andrei Rudomakha, head of the Ecological Watch for Northern Caucasus, has explained. "The complex was intended for the President of Russia's leisure. It became a sneer at the Russian legislation, which is strictly forbidding this sort of constructions in the territory of reserves. To disguise this lawlessness, the mountain-skiing complex was documented as the 'Biosphere' Scientific Centre within the Reserve, but nobody has ever been engaged in science in this 'centre,' naturally. Our current protest action is against illegal construction of a highway to this elite mountain-skiing complex."
