Faramaz Allakhverdiev, journalist of the "Nota Bene" newspaper arrested in Azerbaijan, has been on a hunger strike for ten days already.

The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent has found out that the journalist's health is normal and he is under medical surveillance. At present, Allakhverdiev has removed stitches from his mouth and accepts water but he refuses food, report the same sources.

For reference, Allakhverdiev went on a hunger strike on July 20 with a demand to meet Israeli diplomats and form an independent council on press.

Faramaz Allakhverdiev was convicted in January this year under articles 147 and 148 (slander and offense) for 2.5 years of imprisonment. The law suit was initiated by Ramil Usubov, head of Azeri MIA, and Nazim Ibraghimov, head of the State Committee on Work with the Diaspora.
