Torture charges brought to two militiamen in Kabardino-Balkaria

The Public Prosecutor's Office of the Elborus District, Kabardino-Balkaria, has accused two workers of the District Interior Department (ROVD) - M. Baichekuev and M. Mashezov - of applying physical violence to detained minor residents of Neitrino village, Kabardino-Balkaria, Yusup Nakani and Ravil Nuraliev.

Valery Kanukov, Public Prosecutor of the Elborus District, informed the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that both ROVD employees had been removed from office by presentation of the Public Prosecutor's Office. The investigation of the case is over, and now the accused and their defenders get acquainted with the case files, then, in the near future, it will go to the court.

Should the militiamen's guilt be proved, they are under threat of 3-10 year of imprisonment.

On August 28, 2006, the militiamen detained and beat two teenagers - residents of Neitrino village of the Elborus District, Kabardino-Balkaria.
