Torshin: Beslan terror act was staged by Maskhadov, Basaev and Abu-Dzeit

The explosion of Beslan school, where in September 2004 militants took hostages, occurred through the fault of terrorists, not as a result of actions of power agents. This is the conclusion drawn by the Parliamentary Commission in charge of investigation of the terror act.

"Relying on numerous examinations and evidences, the Commission has officially established: the cause of the explosion was in actions of the terrorists," Alexander Torshin, head of the Commission, announced the investigation outcomes at the Federation Council. In his words, the conclusion was confirmed by evidences of former hostages.

The report has also listed the terror act organizers: Maskhadov, Basaev and Abu-Dzeit were named.

Alexander Torshin has informed that on the moment of the terror act, not a single armed militiaman was on duty at the Beslan school, the RIA "Novosti" reports.

The head of the Parliamentary Commission has also stated that two associates of the bandits, who took hostages in Beslan school in 2004, are still at large. In his words, one of them is Yunus Matsiev, born in 1984, announced into federal search. The other one is still unknown.

Besides, the Parliamentary Commission for investigation of the act of terror has failed to find persuading confirmations to statements of some witnesses that in the afternoon of September 3, 2004, when hostages were still inside the captured school, the building was swept by tanks, the "Interfax" reports.

The victims of Beslan act of terror, representatives of the "Beslan Mothers" and "Voice of Beslan," have impeached credibility to A. Torshin's Parliamentary Commission and rejected its conclusions.

After announcing its final report on Beslan, the Commission was dismissed.

In September 2004, a group of terrorists took 1128 hostages in the school of the town of Beslan, North Ossetia. As a result of the terror act, 186 children 145 adults died, and 728 Beslan residents and 55 employees of power agencies were injured. During the storm of the school building, 12 special agents and one local resident who helped to release the hostages were killed. On the other part, 31 militants were killed during the operation, and one of the attackers later faced trial.
