In Armenia, political prisoner Atspanyan demands treatment

Political prisoner Sarkis Atspanyan, kept in custody at the Nubarashen criminal corrective establishment, has disseminated a statement with his complaint on bad health condition need of a repeated examination.

According to Mr Atspanyan, many members of his family have died from oncology diseases; accordingly, he could be suffering from something similar.

He asserts that now his health condition has noticeably worsened and he needs a repeated examination. He assumes that he may need a surgery, but he does not want to be operated on in Armenia.

He has also expressed his bewilderment that the prison administration did not allow him to use his PC although other inmates can do it (comment of the "Caucasian Knot": in his custody Atspanyan is translating works of Armenian writers into French).

Lieutenant Colonel Zhirair Sefilyan, a member of the Committee "In Defence of Political Prisoners", former participant of the Karabakh War and commander of "Shushi" special battalion, has stated: "We'll do everything possible for rendering assistance to Sarkis and contribute to his medical treatment."
