Armenia to resume hearings on "Case of Seven"

Today in Yerevan, the process on "Case of Seven" about disorders in the capital of Armenian on March 1, 2008, will continue.

At the latest session on March 4, Robert Bagdasaryan, who received a gunshot wound as a result of demonstrators' collisions with the police on March, 1, last year, said that he was shelled by policemen.

Later, he added that he felt scared by prosecutions for such evidences: "I fear that after my statements I'm at risk of persecution by law enforcement bodies. Unfortunately, nowadays Armenia witnesses prosecutions for one's political views. But I am ready to everything," said Bagdasaryan.

Now, Mr Bagdasaryan has problems with his health and lost his job at the "Ardshininvestbank", where he worked before these events, as the "ARMENIA Today" reports.

In the course of the session on March 4, one of the defendants, former Minister of Foreign Affairs Alexander Arzumanyan, reported about his plans to file a civil suit to the European Union and USA asking them to ban any entrance to their territories for such infringers of human rights like judge Martirosyan and public prosecutor Piloyan.

In the course of this speech, a verbal skirmish burst out between Mr Arzumanyan and the judge. As a result, judge Martirosyan, according to recent changes in the legislation of Armenia allowing holding trial without defendants present, removed Arzumanyan from the courtroom till March 9.
