Basayev launches "Boomerang"

Russian Interior Minister Boris Gryzlov announced that Chechen separatists were preparing a series of terrorist acts on the threshold of the presidential election in Chechnya. This information was confirmed by field commander Shamil Basayev. As Basayev promises, the geography of the crimes will be very broad. He calls them a "retribution operation "Boomerang". Security agencies' officers in large settlements of the Northern Caucasus have been already shifted to the reinforced service regimen. In the nearest future the reinforced regimen will be also put in in Moscow and Saint Petersburg.

Gryzlov promised the presidential election on October 5 would be held without incidents. He noted there was the experience of such a work already - the referendum in Chechnya had been held quietly enough.
