Georgia resumes natural gas transit to South Ossetia

Georgia has resumed the natural gas transit from Russia to South Ossetia which was stopped on the day of starting combat actions  on August 8, 2008.

According to a source in the South Ossetia government, the gas has arrived to the republic's gas distribution station. "It is planned to supply gas to Tskhenvali tomorrow", cites his words the "RIA Novosti".

Until now, liquefied hydro-carbon gas was supplied from Russia to South Ossetia, the respective contract was signed on October 30, 2008 by the South Ossetia government and the open joint-stock company "Gazenergoset" (a subsidiary of "Gazprom").

  • Khamzat Kadyrov confirms drone attack on Chechnya

    Secretary of the Chechen Security Council Khamzat Kadyrov has posted on a social networking service a video of the destruction of a drone. The Chechen official has also added that all the drones launched today to attack the republic had been shot down.
