MIA of Georgia: Russian troops are back in Perevi

Russia has re-opened its block-post and scales up its military contingent in the village of Perevi located in the border with South Ossetia, the MIA of Georgia reports.

The Russian block-post was abolished here in the morning on December 12, and Russian troops were withdrawn. Then, the village was taken under control by the Georgian party.

Today, Tbilisi has stated that Russian troops abandoned the village yesterday in the morning, but regained their positions in the evening. Besides, Russia has strengthened its military contingent in the village up to 500 militaries and deployed armoury machines there, while Georgian police was forced to leave the village to avoid conflict, the RBC reports with reference to the MIA of Georgia.

Today, ambassadors of EU countries to Georgia arrived to Perevi aiming to familiarize themselves with the situation in the village and find out the reason for return of Russian troops. "Russian units had first left the village, and then came back, this is a violation of the six-point ceasefire agreement," Eric Fournier, plenipotentiary ambassador of France to Georgia, told journalists.

Besides, as the observers report, Russian militaries did not let ambassadors of some of the EU countries into the village, while restriction of ambassadors' travel in some other's country is inadmissible by all norms of the international law, as "Georgia Online" writes.

The EU observers have called Russian militaries to leave Perevi. The statement of the EU Mission marks that this sort of actions are contrary to the Medvedev-Sarkozy plan.

So far, the Russian party gave no comments on the situation in Perevi.
