Council of Azerbaijan Editors calls on Defense Ministry and Public Prosecutor's Office to prevent pressure on journalists

The Council of Azerbaijan Editors decided during its Monday's session to send an appeal to the republican Defense Ministry and Public Prosecutor's Office. The Council calls on in this appeal to take measures for preventing pressure on journalists.

The head of the Yeni Nesil (New Generation) journalist union and the Press Club of Baku Arif Aliyev announced on Monday, that the appeal had been caused by the clash of the police with a group of oppositionists and journalists that took place in front of the Baku Police headquarters on September 8. As a result several people, including media workers, suffered.

"Besides, we decided to bring legal action in connection with this incident," said Arif Aliyev.
