Azerbaijan: advocate of imprisoned ex-minister claims that his client is deprived of proper medical aid

On Tuesday, October 28, advocate Isakhan Ashurov met, at Penitentiary Establishment No. 2, his client Farkhad Aliev, former Minister of Economic Development of Azerbaijan. As he said, Aliev's condition is poor, and he has no duly qualified medical care.

Mr Ashurov told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that he was allowed to talk to his client for "4-5 minutes only". "He has dark circles under his eyes, and his face has turned darker," said the lawyer and added that it was for the first time that he saw Aliev in such condition since his arrest.

Isakhan Ashurov could not say anything definite about statements of local media that Aliev had a heart attack. According to the lawyer, Aliev does not know himself what the matter with his health is, since he has no proper medical aid.

The attempt to get any comment at the Penitentiary Service of the Ministry of Justice on Ashurov's statements about ex-minister's state of health was fruitless.
