Georgian prisoner was killed in Abkhazia

On September 3 security forces in Abkhazia killed Georgian fugitive Gervasi Dzhologua in the village of Kindgi. Dzhologua had been held in the Ochamchira region of Abkhazia for the last two years by Abkhaz security forces. He was taken prisoner during a raid in the area by forces of Ruslan Gelayev.

On April 7 Dzhologua escaped from prison in the Abkhazian capital Sukhumi along with 9 other prisoners. They had been sentenced to death for various crimes. According to the head of the pro-Georgian "Supreme Soviet of Abkhazia in Exile" Tamaz Nadareishvili, the Abkhazian forces were informed as to the whereabouts of Dzhologua by "certain well-wishers". The Abkhazian forces received help from Russian peacekeepers, said Nadareishvili.
