Satellite photos show 438 destroyed objects in South Ossetia

A total of 438 objects, 346 completely and 92 partially, were destroyed in Tskhinvali, the capital of South Ossetia, and its vicinities. It became clear from satellite filming made by the UNOSAT International Scientific Institute.

According to these data, the highest concentration of ruined objects is recorded in Tamarasheni Georgian village (177 objects), located to the north of Tskhinvali. Tamarasheni is the largest village in the northern Georgian enclave of South Ossetia; it had a park with roundabouts, highways, cash dispenses and a hotel. Now, the village is practically completely ruined.

According to eyewitnesses, in the first days of war, Tskhinvali was shelled from Tamarasheni. Most likely, the "Komsomolskaya Pravda" newspaper assumes, the village was ruined later by response fire, when the warfare had spinned up.

We remind you that today Russian PM Vladimir Putin has stated that South Ossetia's losses caused by Georgian aggression exceed $1 billion.

The UNOSAT has placed satellite maps of Tskhinvali and surrounding villages as they look after the warfare in South Ossetia early in August on its official website. The experts of the Institute emphasize that these satellite monitoring data were not confirmed by surface studies.
