Azerbaijani MIA keeps denying violence against journalist Emin Guseinov

The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Azerbaijan sent an answer to the request of Djamil Gasanli, Deputy of the National Assembly, on the fact of violence applied to Emin Guseinov, head of the Institute for Reporters' Freedom and Safety (IRFS), on June 14 in the 22nd Police Station of the Nasiminskiy District of the capital of the country.

Deputy Djamil Gasanli told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that the answer signed by Arif Rzaev, head of the Department of Internal Investigations of the MIA, presents the following version of the incident.

Information arrived to the Central Police Department of the capital that a group of persons got together in the cafe named "Alaturka" with the aim to hold some event there, and there actions "were disturbing the surrounding people". After examination of personalities, most of them were released. Those, who were not identified, were brought to the 22nd Station. There, they voluntarily gave their fingerprints and were photographed, asserts the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Azerbaijan.

On June 15, Emin Guseinov underwent a forensic-medical examination, which did not reveal any traces of violence on his body.

In his turn, Mr Guseinov himself has informed the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that his person was identified in the "Alaturka" cafe, since he had both his ID and certificate of his organization on him. Besides, in the cafe he received blows on his head and back by someone's hand. His neck received another strong blow also in the 22nd Police Station.

When he was brought to the first aid hospital named after Musa Nagiev, he was diagnosed a "latent craniocerebral trauma". Then, this diagnosis was changed for the "neurotic reaction".

Besides, according to the journalist, his examination was held not on the next day, as they say it in the letter, but only three days later. Moreover, until now Guseinov cannot retrieve his patient's card from the hospital, they just would not give it to him.
