In Krasnodar, court leaves Kurmanches in custody

The Pervomaiskiy District Court of the city of Krasnodar has left behind bars the members of the Kurmanch community - Anatoly Dursunov and Rashid Gurzhiev, who assert that they were beaten by employees of the regional department of "Gosnarkokontrol" (Federal Drug Control Agency).

Raisa Bashkirova, Anatoly Dursunov's advocate, asked the court in her complaint to transfer her client from the status of the accused person into witnesses, however, on July 3, Judge Vasily Makhov rejected the petition.

"The Judge has argued that the investigation isn't over, and there're still plenty ground to hold Anatoly Dursunov in custody," Raisa Bashkirova said to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

Earlier, Liudmila Aleksandrova, Rashid Gurzhiev's advocate, had submitted a petition on recognizing the decision to bring Rashid to criminal liability to be illegal, however, on June 26, the Pervomaiskiy District Court rejected this petition either.

However, yesterday the court satisfied another petition - to give a chance to Hasan Gurji, head of the Kurmanch community in the Krasnodar Territory, to speak at the trial. He is still convinced that the members of his community Anatoly Dursunov and Rashid Gurzhiev were beaten by employees of the regional department of "Gosnarkokontrol".
