Abkhazia's authorities: by supporting Georgia, NATO, USA and EU underestimate potential consequences

On April 25, the Parliament of Abkhazia sent a message to the leaders of the NATO, European Union and United States with regret for the negative reaction of these entities and some other states to Moscow's initiatives in support of this non-recognized republic.

The Parliament spoke positive to President Putin's action to improve ties with Abkhazia. In the opinion of MPs, these steps "are consonant with the provisions of the UN Charter, Helsinki Final Act, 1975 Conference on Security and Cooperation in Europe, Universal Declaration on Human Rights, and new political realities."

"Sponsoring Georgia by a number of NATO and EU countries, and the rendered military and political support create tension in the region and provoke Georgia to use force in settling our mutual relations and attempt to annex the territory of Abkhazia. The utterances about a military revenge are backed up by real actions. Essential troops and military hardware are deployed near Abkhazian border, our air space is trespassed, and diversions are committed in the frontier zone," one of the MPs of the non-recognized republic has noted.

In the opinion of MPs, the peacekeeping Russian forces are a deterrent, and their further presence in the Georgian-Abkhazian conflict zone is a must.
