Prosecutor's Office of Volgograd Region demands to respect the rights of invalids

The prosecutor's audits conducted at the establishments of medical-social examination (MSE) of the Volgograd Region have revealed numerous violations in their work related to rehabilitation of invalids and supply of rehabilitation means to invalids in the volume as established by the law.

The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told at the press-service of the Volgograd Regional Prosecutor's Office that early in May a Category I invalid lodged his complaint to the Office. The point was in violation of his rights to have a sufficient amount of absorbing linen and pampers. The prosecutor's audit conducted on the fact revealed violations of the Federal Law "On Social Protection of Invalids in the Russian Federation".

"Now, the audits in the MSE establishments are over," Lydia Sergeeva, senior assistant to the public prosecutor of the Volgograd Region, has informed the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

According to Ms Sergeeva, public prosecutors have sent some 500 claims to the court demanding that the Bureau of Medical-Social Examination make changes in invalids' rehabilitation programs and provide them with rehabilitation means in the volume as established by the law.

"Besides, presentations have been made in relation to the managers of the MSE Bureau Branches prescribing to eliminate the violations of the law and bring those guilty officials to disciplinary responsibility for breaching the rights of disabled persons," Lydia Sergeeva has added.
