Despite Armenian authorities' pressure, hunger strike in Masis goes on

On May 19, Samvel Gevorkyan and Koryun Tadevosyan announced a termless hunger strike with a demand to release Usik Bagdasaryan, commander of the Masis battalion, and other political prisoners. Mr Bagdasaryan was sentenced to 3 years of imprisonment for keeping 16 hunting cartridges.

At midday, when people gathered around the participants of the action, the police of Masis detained Tadevosyan and Gevorkyan by cursing them and violently forcing into the car.

After the "talk" held from 12 a.m. to 5 p.m. by policemen and officials of the Prosecutor's Office of Armenia with the participants of the protest hunger strike - residents of Masis Koryun Tadevosyan and Samvel Gevorkyan, the latter would not agree to stop their action.

The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports that today the hunger-strikers were visited by City Mayor, who persuaded them to stop their action.

So far, they were not examined by doctors, but the protesters have no health complaints and are going to continue their protest action.
