Dieter Boden stands for independence of Abkhazia

German diplomat Dieter Boden, former special representative of the UN Secretary General for the Abkhazian conflict and nowadays head of the mission of the Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR/OSCE) for observing elections, now, after recognition of independence of Kosovo, is supporting the independence of Abkhazia.

Dieter Boden has criticized the actions of President of Georgia Mikhail Saakashvili, saying that they "nurse a danger of a new armed conflict", the "Interpressnews" reports with reference to the SPIEGEL.

Mr Boden is also criticizing "Russia's dualism", which, on the one hand, wishes to act as an intermediary and, on the other hand, renders strong political influence on the Abkhazian party.

We remind you that in due time under direction of Dieter Boden the project "On Delimitation of Powers between Tbilisi and Sukhumi" was developed. This February, Sergey Shamba, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Abkhazia, declared that Boden's plan for settling conflict with Georgia has exhausted itself, and new approaches to normalize the situation should be searched.
