The explosion of a bus in Tolyatti on October 31, 2007, that killed eight persons was a result of careless handling a self-made explosive by suspect Evgeniy Vakhrushev.

"The investigation is near its end. Among the processed versions, we have confirmed involvement in the accident of Evgeniy Vakhrushev who died as a result of the explosion," said Yuri Rozhin, head of the FSB Department for the Samara Region, as quoted by TV Channel "Vesti".

The investigation has established that E. Vakhrushev had got interested in explosives in summer of 2007 after watching a program on this topic at the Discovery Channel. Later, he found the websites describing manufacture of explosives.
