SC of Kabardino-Balkaria cancels the verdict to militiamen convicted for torturing teenagers

The Supreme Court (SC) of Kabardino-Balkaria has cancelled the verdict passed by the Elborus District Court in relation to two ROVD (District Interior Unit) employees - M. Mashezov and M. Baichekuev, and sent the case to a new investigation.

Aminat Nakani, mother of one of the suffered teenagers, told in her conversation with the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that, in her opinion, the cancellation of the verdict is an attempt to red-tape the case and, finally, bring the militiamen away from responsibility: "How can I defend my child? Who should I appeal to, if the guards of the law act this way, if they have frank pledge?"

The Prosecutor's Office of the Elborus District refrained from comments on verdict cancellation by the Supreme Court of the KBR (Kabardino-Balkarian Republic) until arrival of the official cancellation statement, but could not hide their surprise.
