Young man presumably kidnapped in Ingushetia

There are suspicions that a young man was kidnapped in the Barsuki municipal unit of Ingushetia.

It has become known to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent from well-informed sources that about 11:00 a.m. in the Barsuki municipal unit of the Nazran District, near the local cemetery, employees of unidentified power agencies kidnapped a young man.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ingushetia has not confirmed this information to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent, and he was told there that they knew nothing about the incident.

According to Violetta Krasnik, coordinator of the WITNESS Programme for Europe and post-Soviet countries, the problem of kidnappings has spread over Northern Caucasus and outside the borders of Chechnya because of inadequate investigation into this sort of crimes accomplished in the course of the "counterterrorist operation". Human rights activists assert that frequently employees of power agencies are involved into violent disappearances.
