Council of Federation cannot stop Ren-TV in Ingushetia

The RF Council of Federation cannot stop broadcasting of the Ren-TV in the territory of Ingushetia, as it was demanded today by Republic's MPs.

"Unfortunately, we have no possibilities or powers to close TV Channels or to influence their content," Sergey Mironov, the speaker of the chamber, said to journalists.

The State Duma will not interfere into the activities of the Ren-TV Channel too, said Boris Reznik ("Yeadinaya Rossiya") deputy chair of the chamber's committee for informational policy, information technologies and communications.

According to his story, as quotes by the RIA "Novosti", the deputies of the Ingush Parliament should formulate their claims to the TV Channel in their suit. The Ingush MPs can also address the Russian Committee for Culture Protection ("Rosokhrankultura"), Boris Reznik has added. When speaking about the legal content of the application, he has noted that "except for emotions, there's nothing more in it."

So far, the Ren-TV Channel made no comments on the application of Ingushetian MPs demanding to ban its broadcasting in the Republic, since it was not aimed at the TV Channel.

We remind you that the deputies of the National Assembly (Parliament) of Ingushetia found it necessary to stop broadcasting of the Ren-TV Channel. The presence of journalists of this broadcasting company in the territory of the Republic was recognized unwanted.

"Provocative, slanderous and tendentious reports of the Ren-TV about events in the region, which appear on air for a rather long time already, suggest that the forces are behind interested to swing up the situation in the south of our country," the document runs.
