George Bush: election in Georgia is an event in the history of freedom

In his final annual message to the Congress, US President George Bush has noted the success of the election in Georgia and treated it among "the tremendous events in the history of freedom."

"For the recent seven years we have witnessed tremendous events in the history of freedom. Citizens of Georgia and Ukraine stood up in defence of the right to free and fair elections," President Bush has stated. Quotes from his speech are presented in the pages of the "Gazeta.Ru".

The "Caucasian Knot" has already informed that after announcement by the CEC of Georgia of the final protocol on the outcomes of the early presidential election, US President George Bush immediately congratulated Saakashvili with his victory at the election, despite resonant protests of the Georgian opposition, who stated mass falsifications of election results.

The statement of the US Department of State disseminated on January 14th also spoke about Bush's congratulations to Saakashvili and contained congratulations also of the people of Georgia on the occasion of "thee presidential election, which was most competitive in the history of the country."
