US and Russian Armenians call the authorities of Armenia and opposition to restraint

On March 5, in the district of Los Angeles known as "Small Armenia", several thousands protesters rallied to voice against the violence applied to peaceful demonstrators in Yerevan on March 1. The participants were burning down portraits of Serzh Sarkisyan as a sign of their protest.

A group of young people held a protest action near the house of Serzh Sarkisyan's brother Alexander Sarkisyan in Los Angeles. The speakers at the rally stated that protest actions would go on, since the indignation of the Diaspora is boundless.

We managed to learn at the Office of the Armenian Assembly of America (AAA), that on March 3 this organization disseminated its statement in Yerevan condoling to the relatives of the casualties in the rally on March 1 in Grigor Lusavorich Street in Yerevan.

"We call all the parties to act within the law, avoid violence, and ensure a fair and balanced coverage of the events in mass media," the AAA's statement runs.

A similar statement was also promulgated by the Union of Armenians of Russia, which expresses a deep regret on the occasion of the tragic events, which took place on March 1 in Yerevan.
