ChCNS: off-schedule audit was initiated by Department of FSB for Ingushetia

On February 27, the Nazran District Court, Ingushetia, presided by Judge R. Tutaev, started litigation on the claim of the Regional Public Movement "Chechen Committee of National Salvation" (ChCNS) against the Department of the Federal Registration Service for the Republic of Ingushetia (DFRS for the RI).

The cause for the lawsuit were the illegal, from the ChCNS' viewpoint, actions of the DFRS for the RI, related to the off-schedule visiting audit of this human rights organization conducted by this Service in August 2007, and subsequent unreasonable accusations, including a written warning.

It became clear that the Department of the FSB (Federal Security Bureau) of the Russian Federation for Ingushetia believes that the ChCNS is engaged in "gathering negative information" about the situation in the Republic and in the country as a whole, probably, in favour of some other country, which is then placed in the independent Internet website "Ingushetia.Ru". Besides, according to the information announced at the court, the DFSB for the RI also finds the own information materials placed in the ChCNS website to be "extremist", "provocative" and "anti-Russian".

The human rights organization finds these charges to be absurd - moreover, these very serious violations had not been revealed during earlier audits held by the FRS ("Rosregistratsia").
