Ter-Petrosyan: negotiations with the power are possible only at announcement of new election in Armenia

Negotiations with the authorities are possible only provided the presidential election on February 19 were recognized failed and new election announced in Armenia. This was declared by the first President Levon Ter-Petrosyan to the 150,000 strong opposition rally on February 26.

The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent informs that Levon Ter-Petrosyan reported about his close contacts with representatives of the Embassies of Russia, USA and EU countries accredited in Yerevan. According to his version, the European Commission is going to consider the issue of the presidential election in Armenia. He said that on February 26 he had a meeting with the current OSCE Chairman Minister of Foreign Affairs of Finland Ilkka Kanerva and a telephone conversation with Peter Semneby, Special Representative of the European Union in South Caucasus.

"I asked the representatives of international organizations and foreign ambassadors: show me at least one law, at least one international convention, at least one international obligation, not breached these days by Armenian authorities. Yes, I'm holding rallies for six days in a row without notifying the city authorities. Yes, I'm a hooligan, and I'm ready to bear responsibility under the law. But they announced an information blockade to us. Should they've given us time on TV and radio, we wouldn't have held rallies," Mr Ter-Petrosyan said.
