Project "Observatory" stands up for "Voice of Beslan"

On February 5, the joint project of the International Organization for Fighting Torture (Geneva) and the Human Rights Federation (Paris) named "Observatory" condemned the legal pressure exerted on the "Voice of Beslan" Organization. This was reported today by Oksana Chelysheva, head of the Nizhniy Novgorod Foundation in Support of Tolerance.

The "Observatory" had called on international organizations to interfere into the conflict between the public organization created by relatives of Beslan victims and authorities of Russia. Human rights activist are concerned with the fact that legal sanctions against the organization as a whole and its individual members are aimed at restricting its activities.

The "Observatory" remarks that the activities of the "Voice of Beslan" have always been directed only towards achievement of justice in relation to the victims of Beslan tragedy, the Sobkor.Ru reports.

Human rights activists demand from the authorities of Russia to guarantee physical and psychological safety of Ella Kesaeva, co-chair of the "Voice of Beslan", and other members of the organization, as well as of those who act in their support. Also, the "Observatory" demands to stop legal actions against the organization and prosecuting human rights organizations in Russia.
