Oppositional activist demands that Burdzhanadze stop political terror in Georgia

Teo Tlashadze, an activist of the movement "For United Georgia", has addressed Nino Burdzhanadze, today's acting President Georgia, with a demand of protection and safety for all those who have differing political views.

Ms Tlashadze has told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent about the facts of terror and pressure exerted by the authorities:

"My sister was compelled to leave her work. She was a lawyer at the Gori branch of the Czech company 'Energo pro Georgia'. Since November 13, she felt pressure forcing her to quit the company. A representative of local authorities told her that the workers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) and activists of the 'National Movement' who are 'acting' in Gori think that Tamuna Tlashadze 'should not get her salary as she is a member of family of our enemies. <...>

Her health condition has worsened, on which fact we have a respective doctor's certificate. The administration of the company would not like her to leave, but the pressure was so strong that Tamuna had to apply for her resignation. <...>

I categorically demand from Ms Burdzhanadze that the life, safety and health of myself, my relatives, friends and everybody who has differing political views.

Every day I'm chased by MIA's cars, although I'm a Deputy I have no protection. These are the authorities who are ready to do everything. We are going to submit another application on these facts of pressure to the Ombudsman and diplomatic corps."
