Memory of Hrant Dink honoured in capital of Georgia

On January 19, an event was held at the office of Georgian Ombudsman under the motto "Journalists - Victims of Freedom of Speech" dedicated to the memory of Hrant Dink, editor-in-chief of the Armenian newspaper "Agos", published in Istanbul, who was killed in Turkey, and also in memory of Giorgiy Sanaya, Anna Politkovskaya and many other journalists who fell victim of their professional work.

The editorial board of the "Erkramas" newspaper of the Armenians of Russia has informed that the organizer and initiator of the event was the NGO "Armenian Cooperation Centre of Georgia" together with the Board of National Minorities under the Ombudsman's office.

In the course of the event, presentations were made by Georgian Ombudsman Sozar Subari and Karen Elchyan, President of the "Armenian Cooperation Centre of Georgia" to the topics "Trends and Development Problems of Modern Journalism in the Region" and "Hrant Dink - Victim of Article 301. Reaction of International Organizations to His Murder."

The action started with a minute of silence in memory of Hrant Dink. Simultaneously, a photo exhibition "Journalists - Victims of Freedom of Speech" was held, and a film was shown about Hrant Dink.

  • Two natives of Northern Caucasus injured in shootout near “Wildberries” office in Moscow

  • In Volgograd, court recognizes absence of HIV therapy in prison hospital
