Azerbaijani advocates complain to the European Court against the authorities

Advocates Intigam Aliev and Annagi Gadzhibeili lodged a suit to the European Court for Human Rights against the Azerbaijani government. The reason of the suit was the refusal of the authorities to recognize the status of these advocates.

Annagi Gadzhibeili told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that in relation to himself and Intigam Aliev the articles of fair trial, discrimination, freedom of thought, freedom of assembly and the right to real estate of the European Convention on Human Rights have been violated.

In this connection, they addressed the courts of the first instance, which passed the decision in favour of the Bar. One year later, the Supreme Court of Azerbaijan cancelled the decision of these courts and again sent the case to the first instance for its consideration on the merits. However, this time again the courts refused to consider the advocates' complaint.
