Opposition meeting over in Georgian capital

A many-thousand people action of protest of the united people's movement headed by the united opposition in the capital of Georgia is over. The meeting organizers have stated that the aim of the action is to demand that the authorities should refrain from election falsification.

Levan Gachechiladze, candidate of the united opposition, has declared the following to the many-thousand crowd, "I am going to become president of Georgia on January 5. Our victory is in the team who are now in front of you and in the people who support us. Misha, here we come! We are the winners. It is a fight with the political elite and immorality, a fight for dignity, well-being and the Georgian land."

"On the fifth of January, all the opposition must try to protect the polling stations to the maximum. We are not calling for disorders. We know that Levan Gachechiladze will finally win. We should like to warn the authorities that the united people's movement has been mobilized in order to protect our votes", - notes Georgiy Tortladze, chair of the "Movement for United Georgia", Georgian MP.

Seven candidates are going to run the early presidential elections on January 5, 2008 and will be listed in the ballot papers in the following sequence: Levan Gachechiladze, Arkadiy Patarkatsishvili, David Ghamkrelidze, Shalva Natelashvili, Mikhail Saakashvili, Ghiorghiy Maisashvili and Irina Sarishvili.
