Georgia: "Imedi" TV Company appeals against suspension of its broadcasting license

The managers of the "Imedi" TV Company are going to appeal against the ruling of the Tbilisi City Court to suspend the Company's broadcasting license and arrest its property.

Bidzina Baratashvili, Director General of the Company, has declared that it will quite easy to protest against the ruling and win the case in any court, because it "has been drawn up with absolute ignorance of elementary principles of jurisprudence," the "Echo Moskvy" Radio reports.

Mr Baratashvili has informed that tomorrow, on November 15, a counterclaim will be brought in to the corresponding instances. He has added that "the broadcasting company will interfere with any possible protest actions in relation to its suspension."

The "Caucasian Knot" has already informed that today the Tbilisi City Court has confirmed that the broadcasting license of the "Imedi" TV Company was suspended. The Court's ruling was motivated by the fact that the "Imedi" had broadcast the statement of Badri Patarkatsishvili, which, as the Court has stated, contained appeals to overthrow the existing legal power.
