Criminal case against militiamen initiated in Dagestan

The prosecutor's office of the Dagestan city of Kaspiysk has revealed a fact, when militiamen had planted a pack of rounds into a pocket of a detained city dweller, after that, they threatened him with criminal prosecution for illegal possession of ammunition.

The inspection held by employees of the prosecutor's office of Kaspiysk has established that militiamen Mardal Ramazanov and Magomedsalam Alchagirov, while at execution of their official duties, illegally detained K. Omakhanov, earlier convicted, and brought him to the militia strong point.

"They illegally kept the detainee in the premises of the militia station for more than 24 hours, forcing him by physical violence to plead guilty of the crime he never committed - a theft," the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was informed at the prosecutor's office of the Republic of Dagestan.

It was found out that during such "interrogation" militiamen Mardal Ramazanov and Magomedsalam Alchagirov openly put a pack with six rounds into the pocket of Omakhanov's trousers. Then, the militiamen started to threaten him with criminal prosecution for illegal possession of ammunition, and Omakhanov was compelled to sign blank remedial paper forms.

On December 7, 2007, the investigatory department initiated a criminal case against Mardal Ramazanov and Magomedsalam Alchagirov under part one, Article 286 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (abuse of official duties).
