Organization that helps refugees in Stavropol Territory wins Putin's grant

The "Solidarity" Stavropol organization for rendering help to refugees and forced migrants has won a grant instituted by President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, thanks to which they plan to develop the legal aid system to migrants residing in the Stavropol Territory.

Vasily Tselovalnikov, Chairman of the Board of migrants' associations of the Stavropol Territory, has informed today the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that since January 1, 2008, the organization plans to start realizing the programme "Public Legal Reception Rooms of Non-Commercial Organizations (NCOs) Is a Tool to Defend Migrants' Rights".

"Within the programme we plan to open a public reception room in Stavropol, where lawyers will help migrants from all republics, territories and regions: they will give consultations on citizenship issues, on registration and judicial defence, i.e., represent the interests of migrants at courts," Mr Tselovalnikov has added.

He has also stated with satisfaction that the "Solidarity" organization managed to preserve the "Preodolenie" (Overcoming) newspaper that covers refugees' and forced migrants' problems.
