Svetlana Izotyeva, journalist of the "Argumenty i Facty" newspaper, beaten in Ingushetia

It became known yesterday that on December 5, on the second day after the rally in Nazran (Ingushetia), Svetlana Izotyeva, journalist of the weekly "Argumenty i Facty" was severely beaten.

On November 25, at about 8 p.m., Ms Izotyeva was attacked by unknown persons in the doorway of the five-storey house No. 13 in Oskanova Street in the city of Malgobek. Svetlana was on her way home from her trip to the Sunzha District. Several attackers put a polyethylene bag over the head of the elderly woman, threw her down on the concrete floor, and beat her with hands and feet. The Internet portal "Ingushetia.Ru" writes that the attackers kept shouting: "Whom have you tied up with?!" Svetlana Izotyeva who had lost her consciousness was found by her neighbours.

Svetlana's relatives took her to the Stavropol Territory for treatment. She has her kidneys beaten off, her arm is paralysed and her backbone is damaged.

After the attack, an unknown person called up Svetlana Izotyeva threatening to kill her children if she writes an application to the militia.

It is worth noting that Ms Izotyeva was sending materials for the suspended web site "Ingushetia.Ru". Besides, she was granted a computer from the stock of the portal within the programme "People's Computer".
