Dagestani activist Ramazan Rabadanov released from SIZO

In Makhachkala, a court changed the pre-trial restriction measure for activist Ramazan Rabadanov to house arrest. The above information was reported by Shamil Khadulaev, the chair of the Public Oversight Commission (POC) of Dagestan, on his Telegram channel.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that on November 6, 2024, in Makhachkala, the police detained Ramazan Rabadanov speaking in defence of the people involved as defendants in the case on riots at an airport in Makhachkala. The activist claimed that a grenade was planted to his jacket’s pocket. Ramazan Rabadanov was arrested for two months.

Residents of Dagestan expressed their indignation at the detention of Ramazan Rabadanov. Activists pointed out the political nature of his persecution. A court did not take into account the arguments presented by the Ramazan Rabadanov’s defence, including the report of his beating by law enforcers.

Let us remind you that on November 14, the police tried to detain activist Denga Khalidov, who organized a round table in defence of Ramazan Rabadanov. Other activists considered the attempt to detain Denga Khalidov an element of intimidation. In November, 23 public figures signed an appeal to the heads of the Dagestani law enforcement bodies asking them to ensure an unbiased investigation and release Ramazan Rabadanov from custody.
